This calculator is for information only. It applies the published rules of one tax year to the figures you enter, with the simplifications the notes describe; it is not a tax return and not advice. Rates and allowances change, and your situation may differ. For a decision, check with a tax adviser.

About this calculator

Every country taxes wealth in its own way. Some charge the wealth itself (the Netherlands with box 3, Spain with its Impuesto sobre el Patrimonio); most charge what it produces — interest, dividends and the gains you realise — each at its own rate and with its own tax-free amount.

This calculator takes what you hold outside tax-free wrappers and what it earns in a year, applies the rules of the country you picked for the current tax year, and shows the result the way the tax office builds it: per kind of income, with the allowances used up first and the rates of your band.

The rules are kept in one place and refreshed every tax year; the page says which year it runs on. Regional variations are modelled where they change the answer most, and the notes under the result say what is left out.

See it on your real portfolio

Put your accounts in and the tax on your wealth becomes part of your plan to 100 — next to your pension, your mortgage and your goals, updated as your wealth moves.
